Lion Upgrade Notes

Some notes on deploying Mac OS X Lion on your computer:

• The installer is 3.76 GB. For a 2Mbps connection (on our case) it took around 5 hours to download.

• Make sure you copy the installer somewhere else if you wish to reinstall the OS in the future. It will magically disappear when the upgrade is finished.

• Installation took around 45 minutes on a MacBook Pro (Mid-2010) Core 2 Duo model with 4GB RAM. It may be faster or slower based on the software or hardware you have installed.

• Once installation is done, fire up Software Update and it will download newer versions of iTunes and other apps (in this case around 200MB worth of downloads).

• Spotlight will reindex your whole drive so you'll notice some lag on what you're doing until indexing is done.

• Mail.app will convert your old messages to a new format, so you'll also need to give it around 5 to 10 minutes to do its stuff.

• If you're using FileMaker Pro, it will start downloading a 68MB Java Update before you'll be able to start using it.

• The reverse scrolling will take awhile for you to get used to.
