Apple Inc. made the next version of the Mac Operating System, named Mountain Lion, available for download to members of Apple's Developer Program members last February 16. Information has also been detailed out in the OS X section of the Apple.com website.
OS X 10.8 features more iOS inspired functionality, such as Game Center, Notifications, Messages, Reminders, and Notes, among others, so if your business is highly dependent on iOS devices like the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch, Mountain Lion will make it easier to synchronize your data among different apps.
The current version of OS X, named Lion (or OS X 10.7) was released July 20, 2011, through the Mac App Store as an online download, but with an option to order a USB drive installer for those without fast Internet connections. Mountain Lion will be available as an online download only in the late summer of 2012, according to Apple.
It also appears that Macs more than 2 years old will no longer be supported by Mountain Lion due to hardware limitations.
